HVSPCA Virtual Shelter

Save money when you save an animal!  These animals listed here have LOWER adoption fees!  Unless otherwise stated, you only have to pay $50 to adopt!!
Please email hvspca@yahoo.com (do not call the shelter) with the animal's name, your contact information, and the name/number
of your veterinarian (notify the vet's office that a member of the SPCA will be contacting them).
Please be aware that the HVSPCA has not evaluated or in most cases met these animals so we cannot vouch for the information here.  We will, however, facilitate meetings and the final adoption to ensure an appropriate and sustainable adoption.

Name: Mama
Date Posted: 06/02/2010
Description
:
Mama is pretty much a kitten herself, not much more than a year old.  She is the sweetest little thing who loves to be petted.  She may have been an inside cat at one time because she's so friendly and is litter box trained.  She's a little skittish at first but then seems very trusting and will come up to you once she knows you.  In the next week or so, current guardian will be bringing her to the vet to have her spayed and will also get all of her shots done at that time.
Reason for Surrendering: Found as strays by current guardian who has already rescued several other cats - she does not have the capacity for more cats.

Name: Mama's Boy
Date Posted: 06/02/2010
Description
:
Mama's Boy is the last little boy kitten left.  He's about 8 or 9 weeks old and still very shy.  He's got beautiful markings and the cutest little face.  He has stopped nursing and is eating regular dry cat food, and he's already litter box trained.  Current guardian will also be taking him to the vet for his first set of shots, and will volunteer to take him back and have him neutered when he's a bit older.
Reason for Surrendering: Found as strays by current guardian who has already rescued several other cats - she does not have the capacity for more cats.

Name: Betty
Date Posted: 06/06/2010
Description
:
Betty was found as a stray and is very responsive to basic training, and nice around strangers 80% of the time.  She will growl and bark if she is unsure of someone or if they move to pet her too quickly.  But, she is not a fighter and was not trained to be one. Current guardian took her to see a behaviorist at Sean Casey animal rescue and he said she is trainable, and can be a great, people friendly dog, but currently she is not trusting of people.  She is great around other dogs. He said about 6 months of socializing would be needed. She is great around kids.   Betty is about a year old, has been spayed, microchipped and is up to date on all vaccinations.
Reason for Surrendering: Found as a stray by current guardian who does not have the space or means to adopt her.

Did you find a stray that you are not able to keep?  Do you need to surrender a companion animal?  Email hvspca@yahoo.com with
a picture and detailed description of the animal: breed, size, age, disposition, if good with cats, kids, other dogs, and if house trained.  Please include the method in which you would like an approved adoption applicant to contact you.  Please note
animals will remain posted on the virtual shelter and on our waiting list for 30 days.  You must contact hvspca@yahoo.com at the end of that 30 day period to let us know if the animal should remain on the site for another 30 days.

How the Virtual Shelter Operates
The HVSPCA does not have the physical capacity to take in all homeless and surrendered animals in Orange
County, but that does not mean we cannot do our best to help them find an appropriate and sustainable adoption.
Any person in Orange County who has an animal they would like to surrender, be it a stray that found them,
housing issues, financial difficulties, etc can send information to the HVSPCA who will assist them.  If we do not
have room within the shelter for this animal, we will post the information here and work with the community to find a
suitable adopted family.
No animal will be adopted without the approval of the HVSPCA; and no personal
contact information will be given out until our staff performs a veterinary check on all adoption applications.
All communication will go through the HVSPCA.
Adoption of animals on this list will be done at a lower fee than in shelter adoptions.
